Ghost Pilots — это шутер с вертикальной прокруткой для одного или двух игроков, действие которого происходит во Второй мировой войне. Амбициозный нацистский генерал направил свои войска против союзников, и два пилота-фрилансера-ас по имени Том Филлипс и Чарли Стингли по прозвищу «Пилоты-призраки» отправились на своих гидросамолетах, чтобы сражаться с силами Оси. Прежде чем начать этап, игрок должен выбрать один из двух типов бомб. На одном из двух этапов после первого у игрока также есть возможность выбрать третий уникальный тип бомбы (напалмовая бомба на этапе наземного удара и воздушные мины на этапе воздушного удара). В начале игры игрок начинает с тремя бомбами и может собрать максимум девять бомб. В игре для двух игроков оба игрока не могут выбрать один и тот же тип бомбы. Враги состоят из танков, канонерских лодок, самолетов и ряда других боевых единиц. Стрельба по ряду красных самолетов дает коллекционные бонусы, дающие либо более сильную и широкую огневую мощь, либо дополнительные бомбы и дополнительные жизни. Уничтожая некоторых врагов среднего размера, вы получаете коллекционные бонусные звезды за дополнительные очки. Игрок теряет жизнь, если гидросамолет попадает под вражеский снаряд или сталкивается с вражеским кораблем.
